Finalist in Mattel's "Barbie Plays with Fashion" window design competition

Mattel Inc. was aimed at reinvigorating the Barbie brand to reflect greater fashion and design sophistication in the toy's audience, and thus partnered with FIT in creating a design competition for five programs that participated from the College of Art and Design:  Fashion Design, Interior Design, Jewelry Design, Photography, and Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design.

As our final exhibition project at FIT we were given the opportunity to design the exhibition that would ultimately showcase all of the finalist's designs.

Each finalist in the competition was required to build a model of their design which were displayed in the towering two-story multi-media Barbie magazine inspired installation called "The Pink Issue," which was on view in the lobby gallery of the Fred P. Pomerantz Art and Design Center at FIT.

My design is shown on the far right.

I drew my inspiration from one of my favorite window displays ( I can't remember the name of the boutique) and from the novel Gulliver's Travels.
